Youth Navigator
The Tongan Health Society (THS) is a community organisation that operates 4 health clinics, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Centre, Social and Community based services, and a research centre. High number of families we work with are experiencing a variety of challenges in life including health, financial, addiction, employment, education, drugs, alcohol, relationship problems to name a few.
The Society's Model of care is driven by Integration where various services work together for the good of these families. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious applicant to work in a progressive and high achieving team of Navigators. THS is also a high performing organisation in health, social services and educational contracts in the Auckland Region, having been awarded General Practice of the Year 2020 in the New Zealand Primary Healthcare Awards.

The primary function of the Youth Practitioner role is to engage and work with young people and their families, supporting youth development by fostering positive relationships and implementing strategies that promote personal growth and wellbeing.
This role provides guidance for youth in navigating challenges, accessing resources and preparing for long-term employment.

Qualifications & Certifications
Evidence of training in youth wellbeing
Clean and valid Full Drivers Licence
Has held management position in areas of youth development
Experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience in social service sector
Previous experience in participating in service development initiatives
Other attributes
Nuanced knowledge and awareness of issues faced by minority groups
Ability to use Pasifika frameworks in providing support to clients
Passion about working towards equitable outcomes
Effective interpersonal, public speaking and communication skills
Clean criminal convictions history and police records
Good working knowledge of computer systems, especially in Microsoft Office suite

Qualifications & Certifications
Valid Social Workers Registration with current practicing certificates
Post-graduate study related to youth wellbeing
Evidence of training in talking therapy, e.g., CBT, MI, ACT, DBT, or BSFT
Experience
Track record of being a professional practitioner in youth development
Other attributes
Have established networks and successful partnerships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, especially within Tongan and other Pasifika and Maori communities
